What, a clickbait title from a prominent show such as this? Why stoop so low? Nowhere did I see that Jackson actually "converted" Stephen into a cat person. If anything, he looked terribly uncomfortable the whole time. Shame on the person who created this misleading title for views.

  • Hayden Beatty Post author

for real though i hated cats until i actually took the time to better understand their behavior, i think a lot of people that hate cats just don’t really get them

I have had both cats and dogs all my life..I have never had one of those aloof, unresponsive kind of kitties. Mine usually bug me for affection and follow me around more than the dogs do. Like, they even have to go to the bathroom with me, or want to participate in working on my laptop. When I go out with the dog, the cat is waiting right at the door when I return. If I go alone, they are waiting together. I am 73, and have had a lot of both.

  • Emily Walters Post author

The hosts body language was saying 'no!' the whole time. Of course a cat isn't going to feel comfortable. Especially as you're a stranger. A baby might react in a similar way.

I love cats precisely because they are indipendent, proud and give just enough love but not too much. I love dogs too but for me that kind of intense, always wanting to be with you, love is suffucating. I need my space.

I have a cat who is my literal shadow. She will follow me from room to room and sit on my lap purring. She would even start kneading me. And if I cut of access to her with a door she will cry. Cats are capable of so much love.

When your kitten is scared just hold them against your chest and bounce them slightly or rock your kitten forward and backwards like you would with a baby. It works with full grown cats too as long as they aren’t scared to the point of fearing for their life. This video is two years old but i’m seventeen and as soon as I have the chance i’m going to adopt a cat ( hopefully full black ) the black cat is perfect from almost any camera angle and it seems they’re adopted last, if at all. I also plan on fostering, so i’m doing my research now in order to plan for an allergy and fun filled life with cats.

If cats had thumbs and disposable incomes, Jacksons show would be called; "My Human from Hell" "Dear Jackson, You gotta help me out. This stupid human I adopted thinks I'm a dog. He keeps thumping his paws against my head and ribs or he plays way to rough. Hurts like hell. I tried gentle corrections but that was ineffectual. I increased the correction but, now he get upset and yells and kinda freaks out. Another issue is he fills the place with only with his stuff and get upset if I play with anything. Please Jackson. I'm desperate to make this work but if you can't help me retrain him, I'm going to have to rehome him. Your mojo bro, Prince Fuzzy Butt"

  • hoosieraussis1 Post author

My cats definitely make it a point to be in whichever room I'm in and follow me around the house. They often approach for pets, head scratches, and cuddles, especially when I give them a slow blink. One is definitely more needy than the other, but that's personality dependent. I wouldn't want a super clingy, constant-attention-seeking animal anyway.

Dogs are happy to learn human, cats are happy when humans learn cat; if learning cultures and languages of the same species is difficult, learning that of a totally different species should be seen in a similar way.

My cats, Hickory and Shadow, freaked me out a little bit when they were still kittens. They were sitting on my bed and simultaneously moving there heads back and forth while staring at the ceiling. I looked really closely, thinking it was a gnat or fly or something, but there was nothing there. So I don't know what cats can see that I can't, but I know it's something, lol.

Love these Jackson Galaxy videos. Quick question for any cat owners out there. I am a new cat owner. I found him at three weeks old and he's now five months old now. He's wonderful. I want to start eating his shit. I have thought about it and it's a great way to take care of his litter. Is there anyone else out there that does this? If I accidentally ingest the litter itself is it harmful? Are there good edible litters out there that I should know about? Thanks for reading! Hoping to hear from you!

I just hate it when people say "cats are assholes". Why are they assholes? because they dont jump up on you for 10 minutes when you come home? Instead they give you a headbump on the shin accompannied with the cats' unique sound? (they all sound so different) Yeah such assholes. Projecting human behaviour on animals is the biggest flaw in human behaviour towards animals. If a cat fucking lets it pet you, its saying "I like you". How is that not a miracle in and of itself? Also , stop comparing dogs to cats. Yes, dog behaviour resembles human kid behaviour more than cat. That doesnt mean cats are assholes.

Cats don't love? The love of a cat kept me alive. She gave me love when no one else would.
Another cat hugged my hand almost every night as I pet him while falling asleep.
My cats look at me sadly when they know I'm about to leave, and we have a ten-minute hello ritual when I return. They want me to pet them before feed them and, if I haven't pet them enough, they won't eat.
Think of "friends" who turned out not to be friends. How many legs did they have? It's always two, never four.
Give a cat or dog love and they'll give you a thousand times more in return.

  • Ashlee Knowlton Post author

Glad to see this guest and Stephen get together about kitties. Stephen has revealed a sort of put-off feeling toward cats in his comments and it's good to see him at least give it a try. I completely get where Jackson is coming from about cat's perceptions that we don't see or take for granted; humankind seems so high energy and not able to truly relax in more than a tiny moment. Stephen himself is a high energy person and some of his views of the human condition and politics are so insightful – I hope some day he grasps the humbleness of kitties; dogs also have it if they can be taught to not let their drives go too far and find calmness.

I'm really disappointed in Stephen's missed opportunity here. Cat love is WAY more unconditional than dog love, which always involves some sort of sycophantic relationship. I find cat companionship rewarding because they want to be in your vicinity with little to no expectations. They love you for who you are in the quiet space you spend with them.

  • Suzy Green Post author

Cats do a thing when they really love you and want to share a bond of trust: they make eye contact with you and then they slowly close their eyes. It's a trust exercise. It's a conversation. "Let's close our eyes together in mutual trust and fellowship." You can really jack up a cat by going half-way thru this process and then suddenly opening your eyes wide. They speak a language that we can benefit from understanding, just as dogs speak a language that we can benefit from understanding.

  • Vidya Jayaraman Post author

Stephen didn't even try, they're sweet kittens, not even difficult to pet or cuddle. And such a stupid question, of course cats love us. At the end of the day, cats, dogs, bunnies, horses, are all animals and are primarily motivated by food. So yes, cats do look at you as a food source but that's an obvious dependency that comes with the territory of caring for another being that's completely dependent on you for its survival.
